Human Resources, Education and Training Overview

The Human Resources, Education and Training (HRET) Department has three main focuses:

    • government staffing and training,
    • school education from Kindergarten to Grade 12, and
    • post-secondary education and training for citizens.

    GOVERNMENT STAFFING AND TRAINING

This department supports all other departments by helping with recruitment and hiring; and facilitating training, professional development, team building and cultural awareness workshops for employees.

    K-12 EDUCATION PROGRAM

The TH K-12 Education Program ensures students learn about and make healthy life choices, while also being immersed in activities and outings that promote Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in language and culture. TH Education staff manage the programs and services for Kindergarten to Grade 12 by engaging with the federal and territorial education departments, working with other TH departments, liaising with Robert Service School (RSS) staff, advocating for students and parents/guardians, and ensuring TH representation in RSS through the Community Education Liaison Coordinators (CELCs).

    POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION & TRAINING

HRET also administers funding for post-secondary studies and training, and offers services to citizens including:

    • assistance with resumes and applications,
    • information on local job openings,
    • information on courses available locally and elsewhere,
    • advice on career direction and education choices.
